- Hello, my name is Tom King and I'm an Interoperability Evangelist with Questionmark. I’ll be sharing events, discoveries, and observations about technology and standards for learning and assessments. I’d also like this blog to be a place for your input and feedback. Your input and feedback will do two things, First it will help this blog address the topics you're interested in and second, I'll learn what I should bring forward with software partners and standards organizations. The best way to provide feedback will be comments on the blog, so that we can discuss things as a community. I'm also open to feedback by email and you're welcome to reach me via twitter or BrightKite. Some background about me may help. I started in the field of learning and training when I began my master's degree program in instructional design over 20 years ago. Since then I've been fortunate enough to work for a major consulting firm and software companies making powerful authoring tools. That led me to services work developing training for everything from convenience stores to commercial airliners. Eventually I ended-up in the world of learning standards while founding a start-up that was the first independent software company to develop a standards-based LMS (learning management system). I've spent many hours, days and weeks in standards meetings with ADL, AICC, IEEE LTSC, IMS, and LETSI. If there's one thing I've learned, it is that a single real customer example trumps all hypothetical discussions beginning with "I can imagine a case where..." Please help serve my dysfunctional competitiveness and give me some trump cards— real problems or considerations that you'd like addressed. We'll both win.
