We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a one-day symposium in Berlin, Germany this April, which will provide the opportunity for our German Users to gather and learn about the latest developments from Questionmark and best practices in online assessment management. This year’s event will highlight the new features available in Questionmark Perception version 5, as well as providing technical training and case studies from experienced Questionmark Users. Questionmark Symposia are also a great opportunity to network and learn from other users and speak directly with Questionmark senior management. If you’d like to attend, make sure you sign up today and take advantage of the early-bird discounts! 2009 German Symposium

The symposium is one of many Questionmark user events that take place around the world each year. As I write, many Questionmark Users are preparing to gather in Miami, Florida, for the three-day Questionmark Users  Conference. Online registration for the conference, which includes case studies, technical training, sessions on best practices, peer discussions and many other learning activities, ends on March 9th.

Podcast: High-Stakes Assessments for Doctors in Rural Australia

Posted By Sarah Elkins

I spoke recently with Lex Lucas, who is the online services manager at the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), a professional organisation for rural and remote medicine education and training.

Rural doctors accredited with ACRRM usually live in very remote areas, and completing an assessment in a major city could require spending days away from their practice. The introduction of Questionmark Perception means that assessments can now be taken in the local community, and doctors can stay where they’re needed. Questionmark Live has also been used successfully to track question versions and revisions, strengthening the integrity of the assessment process. ACRRM’s experience is a great example of how online assessment management can help solve unique challenges!

The University of Bradford has recently developed an innovative e-assessment facility, using cutting-edge thin client technology to provide a 100-seat room dedicated primarily to summative assessment. The room provides enhanced security features for online assessment and has been used for the first time in 2009 with considerable success. The room’s flexible design maximises its usage by allowing for formative testing, diagnostic testing and general teaching.

John Dermo is the e-Assessment Advisor at the University of Bradford.  In this podcast he explains the technology behind this unique setup and talks about the benefits and challenges in using this room. John Dermo will also be presenting a session at the 2009 European Users Conference, where he will go into more detail about the project.
